Officer, suspect treated at hospital after PCP exposure

OLDMANS TWP. — Two people — including one police officer –were taken to a hospital after being exposed to the hallucinogenic PCP during a drug arrest, authorities said.

The incident was reported around 3:17 p.m. on Perkintown Road when police pulled over a suspect who had allegedly been involved in a drug deal, according to Carneys Point Chief of Police Gerald Krivda and Penns Grove Chief of Police John T. Stranahan Sr.

The undercover narcotics investigation, which was being conducted by the two departments and the Salem County Prosecutor’s Office, had already resulted in several arrests on Wednesday, authorities said.
