Howell man identified as driver killed in Route 18 car crash

MARLBORO – Police identified on Wednesday the man who died in a single-vehicle crash on Route 18 Monday as a 62-year-old Howell resident.

Michael Lyon was driving a 2005 black Nissan Xterra southbound on Route 18 when it left the roadway, crashed into trees and overturned, Marlboro police Capt. Frederick Reck said.

Officers who arrived at the scene around 8:32 p.m. found the Xterra just north of the Route 79 overpass, Reck said.

Lyone was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Reck.

He said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
