Cop justified in shooting at armed robbery suspect, report concludes

EATONTOWN – An Eatontown police officer who fired six shots at an armed robbery suspect’s vehicle last year was justified in doing so to protect himself and other officers, a report from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office concluded.

Aaron Riley, who was armed with a gun, shot first at the responding officers and later attempted to hit an officer with his vehicle as he fled the parking lot of the Alltown Pharmacy on Wyckoff Road on Dec. 20, 2016, according to a statement released Wednesday by the prosecutor’s office to announce the findings of an internal investigation.
