2-year-old struck by car, official says

PLAINFIELD — A toddler suffered minor injuries after the child was struck by a car in Plainfield Saturday night, authorities said.

Police were called around 7:40 p.m to the 400 block of Grant Avenue, where the 2-year-old child was hit in the roadway, Public Safety Director Carl Riley said, citing a preliminary investigation.

“The child sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment,” Riley added. “The driver remained on scene and cooperated with officers.”

Riley said additional details were not immediately available.
