Do you remember the summer of 2002? If you do, it may be easy to conclude that history does repeat itself.
During that summer, then-U.S. Sen. Robert Torricelli, a New Jersey Democrat, was “severely admonished” by the Senate Ethics Committee. The committee found he had violated Senate rules by accepting and failing to disclose expensive gifts including, but not limited to “a grandfather clock, Italian suits, and a Rolex watch” he received from campaign contributor David Chang.
