Students use marshmallows for STEAM activities

LOWER ALLOWAYS CREEK TWP. — The Lower Alloways Creek School’s second grade class started off the school year with two STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) challenges during their first week.

In the first challenge, they had to save Fred, the worm, from drowning by only using paperclips and popsicle sticks to put his life preserver on.

In their second challenge, the Marshmallow Challenge, they had to make the tallest structure that they could only using spaghetti, marshmallow, tape, and string. The tallest structure built measured 12.5 inches.
