Wanted man tried to beat fare at PATH station, cops say

HOBOKEN— A Newark man faces several charges after he was arrested Thursday for trying to jump the turnstile at the Hoboken PATH station, the Port Authority said.

Jamal Brown, 26, tried to jump the turnstile around 1:15 a.m., when he was caught by police, the Port Authority said. Brown was also allegedly in possession of 10 hypodermic needles.

Brown provided police with a South Carolina identification with a picture of someone other than Brown, and he was also unable to give a date of birth matching the one on the card, according to police. A fingerprint check revealed that Brown was wanted …read more
