Man recently arrested in South Trenton says cops beat him

TRENTON — A man arrested earlier this month says two officers who arrested him used excessive force, and his attorney says they nearly killed him.

Genesis Torres, 40, was detained near a Lamberton Street liquor store by Street Crimes Unit detectives on Sept. 3 while they patrolled the area due to residential complaints.

In a report in the Trentonian, Torres said the officers started beating him as soon as they had their hands on him, and punched him as he fell to the ground. …read more
