For Jose Taveras, his future after Union City High School wasn’t merely going to be a four-year decision based on football. Instead, it would be based on a life long after football.

As a result, when the opportunity to attend Army West Point presented itself, it was one Tavares couldn’t pass up. Tavares verbally committed to the military school on August 25 after consulting with his parents Milton and Inocensia.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound offensive and defensive lineman selected Army over offers from William & Mary, Fordham and Delaware State.
