Despite opposition, Bayonne council OKs Avenue F abatement

BAYONNE — The ongoing debate over tax abatements continued at Wednesday night’s City Council meeting when officials approved a financial agreement for a six-story, 180-unit luxury rental development on Avenue F.

The 30-year abatement gives the green light for construction to begin on the project on Avenue F between 23rd and 24th streets, a block over from another recently approved six-story development on 24th Street.

Both developments are near the near 22nd Light Rail station.

Officials said the property discussed Wednesday has been underutilized for more than a decade.
