Former N.J. man accused of raping child in N.Y.

PORT JERVIS, N.Y. — A former Sussex County man was charged earlier this month with luring and raping a child in New York, authorities said.

Port Jervis police said in a news release Robert Mackerley, Jr., 42, of Port Jervis, was charged Sept. 2 with three counts of first-degree rape, three counts of second-degree rape, first- and second-degree criminal sexual act, three counts of luring a child and child endangerment. 

Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden told New Jersey Herald a family member of the victim had called police to report Mackerley had sexually assaulted a young girl.
