Boys Soccer: In a sport owned by non-pubs and big schools, Delran is true anomaly

DELRAN – Like a hidden paradise, the soccer field at Delran High School is nestled away from everything else, down a long, winding path covered in dirt and gravel.

Surrounded by forestry, the setting is perfectly emblematic of the boys soccer program at the Burlington County school: little flash, but plenty of fire.

Unlike so many other high-profile programs in this state, there is no turf, no lights and no massive grandstand.

Just the essentials: a neatly-manicured grass field, two nets, two benches and three small bleachers for the fans.
