Traffic delays expected as crumbling Hanover bridge is repaired

HANOVER TWP. — Motorists may encounter delays starting Thursday when a 10-month bridge repair project gets underway.

The four-lane Ridgedale Avenue bridge spans 28 feet across a Whippany River tributary and carries an estimated 24,400 daily vehicles, according to the Morris County engineer’s office.

Lanes will be reduced to one in each direction as workers begin shoring up the 43-year-old, county-owned bridge, a crucial link in the commutes of many motorists traveling between Morristown and Route 10.
