These 8 dogs displaced by Hurricanes Irma, Harvey are up for adoption in N.J.

CLAYTON — When summer’s over, the birds fly south. And in hurricane season, dogs move north.

Shelters in the south in proximity to hurricane-affected areas cleared their kennels so that they could take in affected animals. Now, many of these dogs displaced by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have made it to New Jersey and need new homes.

Last weekend, workers from the Gloucester County Animal Shelter took two vehicles up to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Hunterdon County. They came back with eight dogs to fill a kennel that had recently been cleared by a spate of adoptions.
