HARRISON TWP. — The township held a Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony Monday evening at William Wilt Sports Complex.

The program included a bagpipe tribute, rifle salute and prayers for the lives lost in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Artifacts from the attacks were displayed, including a 2,000-pound steel slab from the World Trade Center towers.

Deputy Mayor Dennis Clowney talked about how the items were recovered for a future township 9/11 memorial.

Several guests from the U.S. military were recognized during the program, including Navy veteran Timothy Birckhead, who moved to Mullica Hill over the summer.
