19 vehicles damaged when metal beams fell off truck on I-78

CLINTON – Two separate accidents caused heavy delays on eastbound Interstate 78 on Tuesday.

A truck hauling metal beams lost part of its load, damaging at least 19 vehicles, New Jersey State Police confirmed.

State Police spokesman Sgt. Lawrence Peele told nj101.5 that up to six beams fell into the center and left eastbound lanes near exit 18 (Route 22) around 5:20 a.m. The vehicles had tire and bodywork damage, State Police said.
