For NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, special hometown recognition

CARNEYS POINT TWP. — Professional hockey star Johnny Gaudreau has received many honors in his young career, but it was recognition in his own hometown that was so gratifying.

“It shows how special the community is to me and how the community shares with me,” Gaudreau said after his induction into the Salem County Sports Hall of Fame.

“It’s pretty special,” said Gaudreau, a left wing for the NHL’s Calgary Flames. “I didn’t realize how many friends and family were going to actually be able to make it.”
