Salem County will pause to mark 9/11 anniversary

MANNINGTON TWP. — Salem County residents will gather Monday evening to mark the 16th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on America.

The ceremony, beginning at 7 p.m., will be held at the Park of Remembrance, 135 Cemetery Rd., near the county 911 Call Center, officials said.

Officials from Cpl. Joseph C. Toulson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 253 of Elsinboro will lead this year’s observance.

The first local service to honor the victims of the attack was held along the riverfront in Penns Grove in September 2001.

Each year since, an annual observance has been held in the county.
