Dump truck overturns after snapping utility pole, police say

MANCHESTER — A Mack dump truck tangled in power lines overturned Friday night after, bringing down a utility pole and mangling the lines, police said. 

The truck was traveling eastbound around 10:36 p.m. on Route 571 when its hydraulic arm on the bed suddenly raised in the air, Manchester police Capt. Todd Malland said.

The arm struck telephone wires strung between two utility poles across the roadway, Malland said. It pulled the wires with it, causing a utility pole to snap and the wires to drape across the road, according to Malland.
