Oil tanker overturns, bursts into flames on NJ Turnpike

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP –An oil tanker overturned and burst into flames on the New Jersey Turnpike Sunday, causing a two-mile traffic delay, authorities said.

The accident, which occurred around noon, disrupted northbound Turnpike traffic from Exit 7 in Chesterfield Township to Exit 7a in Hamilton Township, according to the NJ State Police.

There were no injuries, state police said.

The accident occurred at milepost 56.9, according to the state police.

All northbound lanes were closed and traffic was detoured until about 1:30, when two lanes were reopened, state police said.
