Guard gets prison time for smuggling contraband to inmates

BRIDGETON — A former corrections officer has been sentenced to five years in state prison for smuggling contraband to inmates at the South Jersey jail where he worked, authorities said.

In addition to the prison time, Joshua Minguela, 32, of Vineland, was ordered by Superior Court Judge Michael J. Silvanio to forfeit his job with the Cumberland County Department of Corrections and will never be eligible for public employment or office again.
