Give addiction center encouragement, not roadblocks | Editorial

Plans to bring a drug treatment clinic into a Monroe Township strip mall have met less resistance than some similar projects in South Jersey. Residents and officials deserve praise, by and large, for being enlightened about the addiction emergency.

But, in case Crossroads Treatment Centers meets more strident opposition at its next stage in the local approval process, objectors should be reminded that Monroe was singled out a couple of years ago for having 25 times the national average of opioid-related deaths.
