10 passengers rescued after boat catches fire

MONMOUTH BEACH — Ten passengers aboard a 22-foot speed boat had to be rescued from the Shrewsbury River Sunday afternoon after the boat caught fire, police said.

None of the passengers onboard the Sea Doo, a type of speed boat, were injured in the blaze, which was first reported to police at 2:51 p.m., said New Jersey State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez, a spokesman for the agency.
