Robber gets 40 years for shooting man 5 times

TRENTON — A city man convicted of robbery and assault for a crime in which he shot a gas station customer five times was handed a 40-year prison term Friday.

Stephen Copeland, 29, was sentenced to 40 years for first-degree robbery and second-degree aggravated assault. The judge also sentenced to 10 years on weapons charges, to be served concurrently.

The jury that convicted Copeland of the robbery and aggravated assault acquitted him of attempted murder in June.
