'Dangerous and callous' man gets life sentence for dice game killing

PLAINFIELD — A Plainfield man was sentenced Friday to life in prison for gunning down another man in broad daylight on a city street in 2014 because he was turned away from a dice game.

Johnathan Sylvester, 30, must serve at least 30 years before being eligible for parole for the killing of 24-year-old Rashawn Bryant. 

“He’s a dangerous and callous individual who shows no regard for human life,” Union County Assistant Prosecutor Melissa Spagnoli told Superior Court Judge Frederic R. McDaniel before the sentence was levied.
