A week after City Council furor, mayor talks tax bills

TRENTON — Mayor Eric Jackson said Friday he’s creating a “tax task force” to address residents and business owners concerns about their new, higher tax bills.

Last Thursday, at a City Council meeting, angry business owners complained that the revaluation of their properties – performed by a contractor earlier this year – left them with astronomical increases on their tax bills.

They wondered aloud if they’d have to close down their business, or move out of the city, and they wanted help form the city.
