Murderer who put pig mask on his dead ex-wife's face loses appeal

MORRISTOWN — An appellate court has rejected the appeal of a Morris County man who was convicted of stabbing his ex-wife 84 times before placing a pig mask on her face.

Anthony Novellino, 70, of Denville, was sentenced in September 2014 to 50 years in state prison for a crime the judge said was so “heinous, cold and depraved” that it went “beyond murder.”

Authorities say Anthony Novellino attacked his ex-wife in a second-floor bathroom of their home on June 19, 2010, stabbing her repeatedly while she was on the floor including one wound that was 10 inches deep.
