Judge says controversial Margate dune project can resume

MARGATE— A stay halting work on an Army Corps of Engineers beach replenishment project was lifted by a federal judge Thursday despite concerns from residents about the impact it was having during the peak summer tourist season, the Press of Atlantic City reported.

The project has been on hold since an Atlantic County judge ordered work to stop temporarily on Aug.3, after rainfall created a pond sardonically dubbed “Lake Christie” that some said posed a health and safety hazard.
