The haunting words of a murderer, or a mistaken translation?

“God, Jesus, I can’t believe I killed a little girl.”

Those are the words Assistant Prosecutor Yomara Castro told jurors that Michael C. Brady, 38, uttered while in Englewood Police custody after the bodies of Tam Marie “Tammy” Pitts-Gaddy and Natasia Gaddy, 5, were found slain in their West Palisades Avenue apartment on Jan. 29, 2013.  

The words were those of a man “struggling to come to terms with the overwhelming guilt over what he did,” Castro said during her opening statement in the Teaneck man’s trial Tuesday afternoon in Superior Court in Hackensack before Judge James J. Guida.
