Arson of 2 railroad cars in East Hanover sparks reward offer

EAST HANOVER — Authorities have offered a $1,000 reward for information related to the arson of two railroad cars last week.

East Hanover police and firefighters responded to a call at about 10:41 p.m. on Thursday and found two railroad cars fully engulfed in flames behind an industrial complex on Melanie Lane, Morris County CrimeStoppers said in a news release.

The passenger railroad cars, which are property of the Morristown and Erie Railway, were being stored at the location, CrimeStoppers said.

Based on the investigation, authorities believe the fire was intentionally set and are seeking help from the public identifying those responsible.
