Woman who lost vision during eye procedure gets $1.35M settlement

A former New Jersey woman who developed a hemorrhage during a procedure and later lost vision in one eye settled her malpractice suit for $1.35 million, according to a report. 

Peggy Nelson, now 77, lived in Toms River when she was expecting to undergo a cataract extraction and lens implant in 2012, according to NJLawJournal.com.

Nelson’s lawyer said his client began coughing as ophthalmologist Ronald Klug prepared for the procedure in his Holmdel office. When the procedure began, Nelson began coughing “uncontrollably” and the doctor had to stop the operation.
