NJ Transit service disrupted after person struck, killed by train

CHATHAM BOROUGH — Service on the Morris & Essex line has been suspended between Summit and Chatham after a person was struck and killed by a train Monday morning.

The person was hit near the Chatham station around 6:30 a.m., NJ Transit said. Information was not immediately available about the person’s identity.

There were 300 people on board the train at the time, an NJ Transit spokesman said.

Service on other lines is running on or close to schedule.
