N.J. mayor rails against Shore bridge traffic paralyzing city's streets

MIDDLESEX COUNTY — Traffic is generally terrible on Sunday evenings in the summer at the Outerbridge Crossing as thousands of New Yorkers head home from the Jersey Shore.

The past two Sundays have been particularly nightmarish as motorists seeking a way around the backups on Route 440 and Route 35 have continued to detour through the streets of Perth Amboy, according to the city’s mayor.
