Lifeguards rescue, revive girl at Sandy Hook beach

SANDY HOOK – A young girl had to be revived with a defibrillator Sunday after being pulled from the water by lifeguards at a Sandy Hook beach.

Lifeguards immediately began CPR after rescuing the girl, who was taken to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, said Daphne Yun, a spokeswoman for the National Park Service.

“I was standing there when they pulled her out. She was blue,” said Amy Delmanto, a special education teacher from Bridgewater who witnessed the rescue. “She looked about 13 years old. I noticed her playing with her brother earlier.”
