Bring back those 1960s fallout shelters; Fan mail for some N.J. flounder | Feedback

Tensions between the United States and North Korea have reached a level to where I, for one, feel that our local towns and communities should start considering emergency preparedness plans in the event the dispute should escalate into a full-scale nuclear, chemical or biological attack on our country. 

Many of us can remember growing up under nuclear tensions between America and the former Soviet Union during the Cold War. Communities set up fallout shelters, emergency hospitals, emergency food stocks and plans for continuity of government. Schools held emergency drills. Many homeowners built their own private shelters.
