Race car hits, injures 2 at N.J. racetrack

WATERFORD TWP. — Two people were injured when they were hit by a race car at the Atco Raceway Sunday afternoon.

Waterford Police Lt. David D’Amico said the race car struck two people and a parked car in the pit area of the track at 1000 Jackson Road around 12:15 p.m. He did not know if the car was racing at the time.

He said the victims were laying on the ground between the two vehicles but were never pinned between them, contrary to scanner transmissions.

One suffered a leg injury, possibly a broken ankle, and was airlifted after being removed from the race track …read more
