Man shot and killed in his own driveway, authorities say

ELIZABETH — The Union County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the fatal shooting of a city man early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Elizabeth police officers responding to a report of shots fired in the area of Niles Street and Fifth Avenue around 2:50 a.m. found the 33-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound in the driveway of his home, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

The man, whose identity hasn’t yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
