Bacteria killed 11-year-old boy, summer camp tells parents

MILFORD, Pa. — An 11-year-old Bergen County boy who died earlier this week while away at a Pennsylvania sleep-away camp has tested positive for a bacteria that is a precursor to meningitis, according to a notice sent by the camp to parents.

Daniel Beer, of Norwood, died Monday while away at Camp Nah-Jee-Wah, in Milford, Pennsylvania — which is operated by NJY Camps, based in Fairfield, Essex County.
