'Woefully deficient system' to blame for 6 suicides at county jail, lawsuit says

BRIDGETON — A lawsuit has been filed in connection to another suicide that occurred at the Cumberland County Jail.

David Conroy, 32, of Elmer, committed suicide in the Cumberland County Jail back in May. Conroy, was on suicide watch when he hanged himself, county officials said.

“Sadly, Mr. Conroy is the sixth victim of suicide at the jail within 34 months,” Attorney Conrad Benedetto said.
