Fire displaces 18 people from Paterson apartment building

PATERSON — A four-alarm fire gutted an apartment building leaving 18 people homeless on Friday. 

The fire was reported at 8:34 a.m. in a two and half story building at 68 Lyon St., Paterson Deputy Fire Chief William Henderson said. Flames ravaged the second story causing the roof to collapse and the fire to spread to a neighboring River Street building’s attic.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was under control at 1:06 p.m. and units left the scene at about 3 p.m, Henderson said.
