17-year-old charged in fatal shooting of high school senior

CAMDEN — A 17-year-old Camden City boy was charged Friday with the daylight fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man here, the Camden County prosecutor said.

The suspect’s name was not released because he is a minor. 

Shapaul Johnson, 18, also of Camden, was found fatally shot in the area of the 1000 block of Thurman Street on the evening of May 18. Camden County Police responded at 7:27 p.m. after a ShotSpotter activation and 9-1-1 calls, the prosecutor said.

Officers arrived and located Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:35 a.m.
