A class of 25 new Jersey City police officers was sworn in yesterday, bringing the department to its largest size in two decades, officials say.
The class, which boosts the Jersey City Police Department ranks to 932 uniformed and superior officers, includes 13 Hispanic officers, three African-American officers and two Asian officers. The group also comprises five female officers, as the city continues to work to diversify the state’s second largest police force.
Another class of officers currently in the police academy will add another 24 officers to the force this fall, bringing the department closer to Fulop’s goal of 950 officers.
