10-year-old N.J. boy who suffered stroke runs again after 'miracle' recovery

EVESHAM TWP — When Chase Schweiger suffered a stroke at the age of 7, doctors told his parents they weren’t sure if the otherwise healthy boy would ever walk, talk, or play alongside his friends ever again. 

But on Friday morning, the three-year anniversary of that stroke, the now 10-year-old competed in a relay race and other events alongside his fifth grade classmates at Beeler Elementary School. 

“We didn’t know what his recovery was going to be,” said Chase’s mom, Wendi Schweiger. “To see him hanging out with his friends and talking and running the best that he can is just more than we imagined.”
