William Paterson University sends off Class of 2017

NEWARK — Nearly 2,300 undergraduate students received degrees from William Paterson University on Friday in a ceremony at the Prudential Center, according to the university. 

State Sen. Paul Sarlo (D-Bergen) gave the keynote address, telling graduates to never be afraid to take risks. 

“Be open to different people and different ideas,” said Sarlo, who received an honorary doctor of laws degree. “Do not allow pursuit of the perfect to be the enemy of achieving the good.”

The graduates included students from 13 states and 17 countries, ranging in age from 20 to 65.
