Teenager is second homicide in Camden in two days

CAMDEN — For the second time in two days, a man was found shot to death in the city.

Shapaul Johnson, 18, of Camden, was shot once at 7:27 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of Thurman Street, according to a release from the Camden County prosecutor’s office.

Police responded to the scene due to Shot Spotter notification and several 911 calls.

Johnson died from the gunshot wound at Cooper University Hospital around 1:35 a.m. Friday.

No arrests have been made in connection with his killing or the death a day earlier of another city resident, Edward Whittle Jr., 30.
