Rare rabid lamb found in Cumberland County, officials say

GREENWICH TWP. — Authorities are investigating a rare case of a lamb with rabies, authorities said Friday.

The rabid animal is one of three lambs that were for a time in two other counties before ending up at a Cumberland County farm, according to authorities.

It’s not known, Cumberland County Department of Health officials said Friday, how the lamb may have become infected with rabies.

“We are asking anyone who may have come into contact with one of the lambs involved to please contact the Cumberland County Department of Health,” said Cumberland Health Officer Megan Sheppard.
