N.J. man with 6 DWIs charged with driving with suspended license

JERSEY CITY — A West New York man with six prior convictions for driving while intoxicated was charged with driving with a suspended license after a crash on Saturday.

Edgar Lopez, of the 300 block of 56th Street, was also charged with hindering his own apprehension by providing false information to impede the police search for his driver’s license number, his criminal complaint states.

After a computer search, police found Lopez’s driving record and determined that in addition to six DWI convictions, he also had nine driving while suspended convictions and 19 failures to appear for court hearings, according to the …read more
