Alligator spotted in N.J. town's duck pond

SECAUCUS – The Duck Pond here has more than just ducks lurking through the swampy waters.

A DPW employee was cleaning around the pond near Metro Way on May 3 preparing for the town’s annual fishing derby when he reported seeing an alligator, Business Administrator Gary Jeffas said.

Crews, including Mayor Michael Gonnelli, searched around the pond looking for the gator, estimated at roughly 2-and-a-half feet, and could not find it. Jeffas said the DPW employee tried to take a photo of the animal, but it quickly disappeared underwater.
