Teen on autism spectrum becomes Eagle Scout after service project

NATIONAL PARK — Time and neglect left their marks on the Veterans Memorial Park in National Park. Memorials had sunken so far into the ground that no one could see them, benches were peeling, and the words on the faded welcome sign were hidden from sight of passersby at the busy intersection.

Sixteen-year-old Boy Scout John Sztenderowicz wanted to honor the veterans of his hometown of National Park with his Eagle Scout Service Project. He decided fixing up the park would be a fitting honor.
