Police officers help to deliver baby girl

OCEAN TOWNSHIP – Township police officers and members of the Oakhurst First Aid squad helped a woman deliver a baby in a West Park Avenue home on Tuesday.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. a pregnant woman called police to inform them that she was in labor at a home on West Park Avenue in the Oakhurst section of the township, Detective Lt. Timothy Torchia said in a release.

Police officer Thomas Rant was the first to arrive and assessed the woman, who was full term and having contractions approximately one minute apart, Torchia said.
